The Art of Doing: Ridemakerz Experience.

March 11, 2025

It was impossible not to smile as I watched two of my boys race into the Ridemakerz store, their eyes wide with excitement. There was no hesitation, no second-guessing—just pure, unfiltered joy. They just wanted to go inside to look at the cars. Little did they know, they were in for a new experience.

The store was empty at the time, but quickly filled with the hum of two eager boys who were offered a chance to test drive some of the vehicles. Their excitement filled the store with curious customers who tested a couple of cars and monster trucks.

By this time, my boys were aware that this store was a little different. The realized that they could try something new – build their own remote control cars. How could a mother say no to this sort of happiness?

While assembling their vehicles, these two were especially animated. The idea of customizing a car from scratch, choosing the wheels, body, and accessories, was a dream come true.

They dove right in, listening intently to the staff as they explained the process. Every decision was carefully considered, every piece placed with intent, and their enthusiasm was contagious. As they worked, they couldn’t help but share their excitement with each other, bouncing ideas off one another, discussing the coolest wheels or the most epic paint jobs.

They were fully immersed in the experience, savoring the thrill of doing something hands-on and creative. It was all about the process—the doing—not just the finished product.

This moment made me reflect on the art of doing. How often do we find ourselves waiting for the “perfect time” to try something new, or getting stuck in the planning stage without ever moving forward? These boys didn’t sit around wondering if they’d build a good car; they just jumped in. They didn’t worry about getting it perfect; they were focused on the “doing” itself. They were actively engaged, not waiting for the world to hand them an experience—they were making one of their own.

In a world that often rewards overthinking and over-planning, we can sometimes forget the joy of just doing. There’s a world of experiences waiting for us, but we have to take the first step. Much like those boys in Ridemakerz, the best moments in life come from diving in, experimenting, and learning through action. Whether it’s picking up a new hobby, tackling a big project, or simply going somewhere new, the act of doing is what leads to growth, discovery, and the satisfaction of creation.

The lesson here is clear: don’t wait for the “perfect moment” or the ideal set of circumstances to start something new. Start now. Take the leap. Do. You’ll learn, you’ll grow, and along the way, you’ll uncover experiences that are more rewarding than you could ever imagine, just like those two boys who left Ridemakerz with more than just cars—they left with the confidence that comes from trying, doing, and creating something unique.

As I watched them drive their new creations across the store, I couldn’t help but think about how the world is full of opportunities like this, waiting to be explored. All it takes is the courage to do.
